- Mild severity = mild symptoms of depression, with mild or no impairment of function in work, home or relationships.
- Moderate = moderate symptoms of depression, with moderate impairment of function in work, home and relationships.
- Severe depression = severe symptoms of depression, with severe impairment of function, e.g. unable to work; unable to function at home, work or relationships.
